What is Hybrid Sim Slot ? Why redmi use hybrid slot ?

Redmi phones are cheaper phones as compared to other branded phones. But the quality of Redmi phone is much better both hardware-wise and software-wise, if compared with other phones of same price bracket. However, there are some shortcomings also. Like Hybrid sim slot. This is called cost cutting. For cost cutting the sim slot and memory card slot becomes one Having a hybrid SIM card slot may look great at first, but a closer look reveals the inherent disadvantage , you can either use the slot as SIM + SIM or as SIM + Micro SD. If you wish to have two SIMs and still want to expand storage capacity using a Micro SD, it’s not possible. You have to be happy with either a Dual SIM smartphone or an expanded storage capacity with a single SIM. Hybrid sim slot is the upcoming trend smartphones. Previously we needed sd cards because the internal storage of Android phones was very less. The manufacturers usually go with the hybrid sim slots so as to increase the space for battery. And with the manufacturers offering more and more internal storage in the devices, we don't need sd cards in many cases.

Why Hybrid Slots ?

This means the manufacturer will have to specially make 2 slots for the SIM and 1slot for the SD card. Hybrid slot makes their job easier because they don't have to make an extra storage slot and hence they save on money and time. it's sometimes become complicated for user because they wanted to use this both function at same time but they can use only either 2 SIM or 1 SIM and 1 SD card. It will also helps to reduce ram usage and increase battery life, most important reason is that, companies want to make customers accustomed using higher inbuilt or internal memory.

Advantages of Hybrid SIM slot :-

1.  Save Space : Hybrid SIM slot will reduce the phone’s size, so it will be more slim, which is always great. It will also save some space on the phone’s bezel, making it more comfortable to use.

2.  Allows easier microSD and SIM card mounting : In older smartphones  changing SIM or microSD card is ver irritating. First open the back of the phone , remove the battery slide your SD card and then your remove your sim card and during the process if the card was not inserted correctly then you have to repeat the whole process again . This is really annoying. But in hybrid slot , you can just open your Hybrid SIM port, push your microSD and SIM card and  done.

3.  Helps in manufacturing a more powerful phone : By using a lot less space and throwing out a classic SIM slot, manufacturers can now have more space for adding more RAM, bigger and more powerful battery and even a bigger lens for the camera, which can improve its quality

Disadvantages of Hybrid SIM slot :-

1.  Hybrid SIM Slot has limitations in terms of dimension : This slot supports just micro and nano SIM cards and only MicroSD cards. So you can put either two Nano SIM cards or one Micro SIM and one Nano SIM card.

2.  Limited functionality : You can put both of your SIM cards on your phone, but what about SD card? You can’nt use it in that case and you have to sacrifise it.

3.  Not equally beneficial for users and manufacturers : As we said, Hybrid SIM slot allows manufacturers to have more space for stronger hardware but isn’t that beneficial for users as they still have to pay the higher price for the more powerful hardware.
